PRINCE2® (Projects IN Controlled Environments) is a process-based methodology for effective project management, used and recognised all over the world. From PRINCE2 Foundation to PRINCE2 Practitioner, courses provide professionals with the fundamental skills necessary to become a successful project manager. It can be scaled and tailored to each project you undertake.
The development of PRINCE2 was driven by end-user feedback from users, project management specialists, and a review panel comprising 150 public and private sector organisations. This has resulted in a generic best practice tool which is flexible enough to be tailored to your organisation and used successfully for all types of projects.
Because PRINCE2 provides greater control of resources and the ability to manage business and project risk more effectively, its appeal extends far beyond project management specialists to directors and executive board members.
PRINCE2 uses stages and tolerances as its major elements of control. Tolerances allow for a management-by-exception approach, i.e., only involving the project board when decisions need to be made because the project tolerances have been exceeded. Stages are used to keep the project management appropriately supervised and documented for those directly involved, such as project board members and the project manager. The essential components of each stage of the project are described from start to finish.
